.:.Recognize Me?.:. .:.Beginning of May.:.
The compound day and night was alive in some form and fashion at all hours. Even in the dead of night, there was always a cast of characters on the floor where they would stage their training.
The ones that were up as late as she was, not that she ever let herself sleep, were usually the ones that required more personal training. She recognized a few of the faces from above.
One guy she herself kicked out of the Carnival after almost mutilating him. He would look up and immediately scream in terror before running off. That would cause the crowd to try and figure out what the hell caused the freakout, looking up and seeing the ever imposing figure. Course how a woman who is as thin as a rail and as tall as your standard woman could ever be considered imposing is a fool’s problem.
Her reputation precedes her after all. Especially after her little outburst a couple of weeks ago in the infirmary wing of the compound.
“Ah, Ms. Wilde.” she would hear the familiar easy going tones of the doctor. The man that kept her alive somehow. She was convinced that he practiced some sort of witchcraft to keep her alive, but after talking with Muri and the state she was in when her and her brother came to the compound, she was fully wondering if the good doctor wasn’t perhaps a God, “It’s good to see you out and about.”
“Had to get out, the four walls of my room were starting to close in.” she simply said, never breaking her eyes from a group of men that were working together.
The Doc would set himself next to her, not afraid of her being in striking distance, which surprised Angel in a way especially after her outburst, “It’s good for you. I just got the reports from your weekly check-in. You are progressing a lot faster than even I thought you would. Almost tempted to give you clearance to join the rest of these troublemakers.”
“But you’d miss our weekly conversations too much?”
He would give a low laugh, “Something like that. Of course from everything that I have heard about your wicked past, I’m sure that I would more than likely see you beyond your extended stay when you joined us.”
Angel just shakes her head, “I’m still trying to figure out exactly what the hell this place is. It’s nothing like the carnival. There’s no torture chambers, no dark ambiance. Instead it’s like...not really a military compound but like...I can’t even begin to explain it. Who is in charge? What is this group’s end game? How do you fund all of this?”
“That my dear is beyond my paygrade, I’m afraid.” he says as they watch some poor sap get hip tossed by a smaller individual and the smaller man wraps up his arm and tugs tight and the bigger man immediately taps out, “I’m sure you’ll have your answers soon enough now that you are getting stronger every day.”
Angel sighs and continues to watch the man that just made the big lug tap out, move swiftly through more guys trying to attack him. She can’t help but stare with eyes wide for a moment and then smile when he looks like a damn lucha climbing up and quickly taking them down with a leg scissors takedown. From off to the side she hears Muri cheering loudly which causes Angel to smile gently for a moment but she quickly shakes it off, “I tried to ask Muri and she just changed the subject, started talking in length about getting a television for my room, and a mirror. It’s like having an annoying little sister.”
The doctor noticed the smile before she wiped it away, “Muri is just happy to have another female around here. It’s only been her for so long with her brother surrounded by a bunch of muscle heads.”
“I’m no role model.” Angel barked, glaring at him in a manner that would have made a normal man shrink but not our good Doctor, “I don’t want her to grow up thinking that she should be anything like me.”
“Look around Ms. Wilde, it’s not exactly like she has much of a choice.” he tries to appeal to Angel’s kinder instincts that he notices break through when it comes to Muri, “If anything maybe she can teach you the apathy and innocence that was stripped away from you under the monster, and in a way stripped away from her.”
That catches Angel’s attention as she looks to the doc for a question that is on her tongue but know that she would never get the answer from him. Instead she turns back to Muri running across the floor towards the individual they have been watching and jumps up into his arms.
“You gotta teach me that move! That was so cool!” she would hear the young girl say loudly as she wrapped her arms around the neck of the man.
“I told you to stay off the floor this time of the night but maybe one day I will,” the man said with a laugh in his voice, a voice that Angel recognized and made her stand up straight. A voice from the hospital...and a voice from her past.
The man would sit Muri down and look up and notice Angel was above and waved, “ANGEL! COME DOWN AND MEET MY BROTHER!”
“It appears you have been paged,” the doc said before taking his leave.
Leaving Angel to just shake her head and before she could say anything he would turn around. Her green eyes immediately meeting his brown ones. And before she knew it, she would take off back to the safety of her own room.
Panicking. Since when the fuck did she do that?
.:.You Must Be This Tall.:. .:.Present Day.:.
“I was told that I needed to apologize for my actions two weeks ago.” we see Angel sitting in front of a chess board, she overlooks the board rather closely before lifting her well manicured hand and moving a piece. She let out a cackle, “Yeah, let’s put that under the file of never going to happen.”
We see a man’s hand reach across the table and make a move of his own on the board. “Check.”
Angel looks up and glares at him, “ANYWAYS! Hendrix, Hawkins...whatever the hell the name of that individual was, got all twisted and tied up in knots and I hurt his pretty little body. I do not have a single ounce of remorse for him. That’s what anyone gets that stands across the ring from me and doesn't take me seriously.”
She shifts gently in her chair and makes yet another move on the board with a smile.
“This week, I welcome the newest lamb to the slaughter, pretty little Emily Williams who gets the unfortunate pleasure and pain of getting into the ring with someone who doesn’t give a shit about your family let alone why you have come to PWE. Why?”
She looks up to see a move attempted to be made but he grumbles out, “Dammit, gotta think about this one.”
With a smirk, “Take your time. We got all night.”
“Smart ass.”
“Anyways, back to Em, sweetie you are walking into an environment that could potentially be labeled as hazardous to your health. Someone has it out for you when this match was made simply because I live off the pain of not only others but myself. So imagine when I saw how you gave yourself the label ‘Pint Sized Powerhouse’ how ALL the delicious ideas of the pain I could potentially be experiencing danced like a little pretty ballet in two acts.”
The grumbles comes out as the move has finally been made on the other side of the board, she looks up with a little evil glimmer in her eye and makes her next move quickly, “Check.”
“....shit.”
“The two acts will go like this, one I will accept all and everything that you have to offer and then in act two, you will come to a hard realization that anything and everything you have to dish out just isn’t enough. I welcome you to try and toss me all around but considering the hell that I’ve been through and the lengths I am willing to make you feel what I have been through. And bitch, you have no fucking clue. You cannot even begin to fathom the time I have spent healing from a pain far worse than you can ever dish out.” She leans her head in her hands and taps impatiently on the table, “Any time you wanna make that move.”
“I’m working on it. Patiences is a virtue in which you have none of.”
“Whatever.” She sits back and continues on, “As for your family, they better begin to pray to whatever God they believe in, Em. They also better gather whatever dental records they may have because I’m going to send you back to them in a bodybag. I may even do the world a favor and rip out your tongue simply because if you are anything like that trash bag aunt of yours, you are guaranteed to never shut the fuck up when you need too the most.”
“Ah, I think I figured it out...no, hold on.”
Angel just rolls her eyes, “Either way, Em, I’m not saying that you are in mortal danger...but I’m also not saying that I’m not above putting you on the shelf next to your Aunt’s talent that she hung up there a while ago.”
“GAH DAMMIT! I give up!”
“Oh no you don’t!” Suddenly Muri comes into the shot and looks over the board and makes one move and looks at Angel and then back at the man, “Checkmate!”
Angel’s jaw just drops, “TRAITOR!” as Muri walks off the the man follows hollering out in celebration.
“YES! BABY SIS WITH THE SAVE!”
She just sits back and crosses her arms in front of her, “Unbelievable with the pain I put up with.”
